Is
there any Breed Specific Dog Training Methods
Being
a proud owner of a dog, that too of a nice breed, it is natural
for you to dwell on the training needs of your dog so as to
make it a nice pet to maintain. If you ever want your dog
to behave properly and do few tricks too, then dog training
is the right avenue with which you can make your dog more
amenable and a wonderful companion for you.
When you consider the behavior of various breeds to the
training, it is a fact that different breeds respond differently
to the training, but there are few aspects that are common
too in any dog training. Dogs in general carry certain common
specific traits and there are also specific breeds that are
bred exclusively for some specific purposes such as pit bulls
bred for fighting. Though such specific breeds can also be
domesticated, it could be achieved only with a concerted early
dog training and by investing a lot of patience and time.
Out
of various dog training lessons, the important potty training
should start at the earliest possible, more preferably the
moment your pup or dog enters your home. Initially you can
keep your dog in a cage or a crate and as you see some restlessness
in your dog you can take it outside duly leashed for it to
defecate. You should also choose a spot outside your home
for your dog to use and note to take your dog regularly to
the same spot without fail.
Few
people have also found that if they feed their dogs inside
the cage or at its own living place, then their dogs have
naturally stopped spoiling its living place and waited for
the owners to take them outside. However, you should take
your dog outside the moment you see signs and any failure
in this might make your dog defecate in the same place much
to your displeasure.
Consistency
can Confer Success
In
any dog training, be it for any breed, consistency holds the
major success key and besides this your voice commands also
play a vital role in making your dog listen and understand
your expectations. The best part of the voice commands is
that as soon as your dog hears a command that is familiar
to it, it will immediately respond to it without even looking
at you.
For instance if you train your dog to stop doing something
by way of saying no in a stern voice combined
with a mild swat using a newspaper or hand, then your dog
will immediately stop repeating any unwanted behavior the
moment it hears a no from you and with or without
a swat.
There
is a wide spread belief that you should not punish your dog
for any of its misbehavior and when you hire professionals
to train your dog you can even see them imparting the necessary
training without any punishing and only with voice commands.
If you want to take up the task of training your dog all by
yourself, then you must have patience and only with a concerted
effort should you be able to change your dogs behavior.
