How to Train your Dog Stop Biting Others

Dog puppies always have a fascination for chewing on whatever comes in their way and the list may include even your furniture, carpet, etc. Your puppy during its teething stage will tend to lay its teeth on many things and though this behavior is common among all dogs it is not proper if you can allow your puppy or dog to bite others.

Hence it is your responsibility to train your puppy not to jump on others and bite them because your puppy’s innocuous bite may even prove to be dangerous to other people. When it comes to training your dog to correct its behavioral maladies, you can start the training session as soon as your puppy enters your home.

Taking the Cue from Other Dogs

Generally dogs learn things better in their initial four months of its life and hence you can train your puppy not to bite on things and others even when it is young. Further, by making your puppy mingle with other trained dogs or puppies you can get your puppy’s unwanted behaviors corrected, as your puppy will start learning from other dogs too and hence socialization also holds a key in your dog training. Dogs resort to biting when they are in fear and when intimidated and hence you can allow your dog to mingle with people so it can slowly forget its biting tendency altogether.

Imparting Discipline

Puppies resort to chewing mostly when they are playing and hence you should make it a point not to allow your puppy to chew things during its playtime and you can even restrict it from biting your hands while playing with it. You can also educate your younger children at home as how to handle the puppy and you should also note to allow your puppy to eat its breakfast or lunch alone without any disturbance.

If all of your training fails to stop your dog from biting then you can talk to a veterinarian for guidance and you can also explore the possibility of enrolling your dog in a training class. It is important for you to teach your dog few obedience habits and you can also get your dog imparted with the necessary obedience from community centers, pet shops and veterinarian offices.

A well-trained dog is really a pleasure to keep in a family and you can also find your dog a wonderful companion once you train it properly. In any dog training the first ever lesson will always start with teaching your dog not to bite and if you have not already started dog training yet, it is high time you started it today itself.
